Changing patterns

Karina Kopunek, who has trained in a variety of healing modalities, has arrived at a method that allows her to slip in past the veils of the conscious and subconscious mind. Working within your parameters of safety, she finds the places where your operating beliefs are preventing you from living life fully, articulates them, and then works with you to modify and transform them. She's helped me swiftly shift deeply rooted patterns -- and she's really fun, too.            www.theheartofwellness.com

Self-defense

If you’re happy, healthy, and spiritually aware, it would be nice not to have a thug take you out. I highly recommend the self-defense seminars offered by Dawn Callan and her team; they’re terrific. Training with Dawn was one of the keys that led to my Emei Qigong practice. Learning to defend yourself physically is a powerful metaphor for taking care of yourself on all levels.

Counseling/mediation

Sandee Henry, MFCC, is co-director of the Laurel Center in San Francisco, which offers a range of services from psychotherapy and conflict mediation to work/life balance seminars. Working with Sandee, I began to learn how to accept myself, flaws and all, because she accepted me, flaws and all. Sandee is an extremely caring, compassionate woman and a joy to work with.

Buddhist meditation

The Bay Area is fortunate to have a number of venues for deepening one’s understanding of Buddhism. I am personally grateful to the teachers, staff, and volunteers at Spirit Rock Meditation Center in west Marin County.
